RPOSD celebrated its 30th anniversary on November 7, 2023, with a proclamation by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors (BOS) recognizing it as “Regional Park and Open Space District Day.” Since RPOSD’s establishment in 1992 through Proposition A, RPOSD’s work has significantly impacted Los Angeles County. RPOSD awarded over $1.6 billion in grants supporting parks, open spaces, beaches, and recreational areas, acquired 19,600 acres of public parkland, and provided $33 million to support the maintenance and servicing of parks and open spaces. RPOSD was instrumental in enhancing green spaces and creating equitable access to parklands, particularly in underserved areas. Its efforts were further strengthened with the passage of Measure A in 2016, ensuring permanent funding for parks.
In celebration of its 30 years of grantmaking, RPOSD released a commemorative video showcasing its achievements over the past three decades.
