Advancing in Agriculture, Recreation, and Conservation

The Advancing in Agriculture, Recreation, and Conservation Pre- Apprenticeship program provides nature-based youth development, job training, and academic instruction for young adults. The program is part of the organization’s larger efforts to help youth improve themselves while contributing to their surrounding community. Education and training is held at the SGVCC’s operation’s hub in El Monte. Some of the work is performed at the Whittier Narrows Recreation Area, a working farm that serves as a training and educational facility.

In its first year, the program recruited 10 participants who completed 15 life skills and job readiness training sessions.  100% of the participants who completed the program secured employment.
