We are excited to continue our long-standing commitment to parks, conservation, and community resilience by awarding $17 million in grants to 13 projects through the Measure A Park Land Acquisition Competitive Grant Program! The selected applicants, who applied for funding in Summer 2024, represent a diverse range of projects, from urban pocket parks to large-scale open space preservation.
These investments in new parkland acquisitions marks the largest parkland expansion effort in the Regional Park and Open Space District’s 31-year history and will provide greater access to open space for communities across the County. More than 50% of the grant funding will be directed to high park need communities where access to green space has historically been limited, as identified in the Los Angeles County Parks Needs Assessment. 623 acres of new parkland will be created, transforming neighborhoods, restoring natural spaces impacted by wildfire, and ensuring that hundreds of thousands of County residents—along with our environment, wildlife, workforce, and trees—benefit for generations to come.
