Competitive Grant Programs

The guidelines for the Recreation Access Competitive Grant Program and Youth & Veteran Job Training and Placement Program are available now. The application period opens September 9, 2019 and workshops will run from September 2019 through January 2020.

The mandatory workshops are designed to guide applicants through the competitive grants process. While only one representative is required to attend, we recommend sending multiple representatives to at least one workshop. The application cycle for these two programs will close in February 2020 so ensure you attend one as soon as possible!

The Regional Recreation Facilities, Multi-Use Trails and Accessibility and the Natural Lands, Local Beaches, Local Water Conservation and Protection competitive grants programs will be available in Years 2020-2021.

Competitive Grant Programs Coming Soon!

Two of the Competitive Grant Programs introduced by Measure A are coming soon! The application period for Recreation Access and Youth & Veteran’s Job Training and Placement can be expected to start September 2019 and workshops will run from September to January of next year to guide you through the process. Be sure to attend at least one  – and the sooner the better as the application cycle for these two programs will close in February 2020! See the flyer below for more details. Now Accepting Annual Allocation Grant Applications!

Since Measure A was approved by voters in November 2016, RPOSD has diligently worked with park agencies, community organization, industry experts, and the general public to gain insight and recommendation for its effective implementation. By now, you have already registered on our Grants Management System (GMS) and attended the mandatory Annual Allocation Workshop as a potential grantee.

So, what’s next?

Well, we are now excited to announce you can finally apply for grants under the Annual Allocation Grant Programs on GMS!

Log into your GMS account to apply:

If eligible*, your agency or organization will be able to view the following funding opportunities currently open for application:

  • Annual Allocation Funding – Acquisition v19
  • Annual Allocation Funding – Development v19

Review each funding opportunity to learn more about program details and eligibility, then start applying!

*All agencies and organization interested in learning more about the Annual Allocation Grant Program can read more about it on our Measure A Grants Administration Manual. As this is only one of the various grant programs under Measure A, get ready for more funding opportunities to start opening up in the future!

RPOSD is excited to receive your application and assist you on the next steps to get Measure A funds rolling to park projects and open space initiatives across our county. Litigation Against Measure A Ends in RPOSD’s Favor

The litigation against Measure A that was filed early 2017 has now concluded in RPOSD’s favor. We Will continue our current progress in the release of Measure A funds for Annual Allocation Grant Programs, which includes the Community-based Park Investment Program and the Neighborhood Parks, Healthy Communities, &Urban Greening Program. These grants will be available soon, so keep an eye out for the upcoming application workshops announcements!

RPOSD will seek direction from the Board of Supervisors, acting in their capacity as RPOSD’s governing body, on when to move forward with the Competitive Grant Programs.

Draft for Measure A Grants Administration Manual Available

Measure A’s Grants Administration Manual, the final document outlining grant guidelines and policies, will recommended for approval by the Board of Supervisors, acting in their capacity as RPOSD’s governing body, on January 29, 2018. The manual is reflective of the work the Measure A Steering Committee and echoes the goals and visions outlined in Measure A as well as the Proceedings of the Steering Committees. The draft, among other documents created in the Measure A implementation process, is posted in the ‘Measure A Implementation‘ section under the ‘Funding’ tab located on this website’s menu bar.
